About Our Client

As of 1 April 2013, CCGs are independent statutory bodies that are governed by members of local GP practices. This means that GPs and healthcare professionals are at the heart of designing local health services in England.

CCGs are responsible for the local health care budget and they buy (commission) local healthcare services on behalf of the local population. These services include:

  • Planned care and hospital care
  • Urgent and emergency care
  • Rehabilitation care
  • Community health services
  • Mental health and learning disability services

CCGs work with patients and health and social care partners (e.g. local hospitals, local authorities, local community groups) to ensure services meet the needs of the local population. ​

Job Description

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Providing monthly management accountant in accordance with the financial reporting timetable
  • Analyse variances and reports
  • Complete monthly finance returns for submission to NHS England
  • Identifying key risks and opportunities
  • Assist budget holders in the identification of QIPP savings
  • Assist budget holders in the operation of Shared Business Services
  • Provide financial support and input to the process to negotiate contracts for non-acute services
  • Provide financial advise and support in the preparation and review of business cases
  • Liaise with local authority colleagues around services that are commissioned jointly and pooled budgets
  • Prepares budget information for specified commissioning managers.
  • Provides financial and activity information required to complete annual Operating Plan and Finance & Activity templates for submission.
  • Ensures that budget holders are aware of and are complying with the CCG's Financial Policies, Scheme of Reservation and Delegation and Standing Orders.
  • Responds to audit reports relating to areas of responsibility and assists in the implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Provides information and replies to queries raised by both internal and external auditors.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate is likely to be a finalist or a fully qualified accountant currently working within the NHS. , ideally within a commissioning body, however those working within providers will also be considered

They are looking for a highly analytical candidate , with a strong management accounting background and good communication skills
