Large exciting public sector organisation based in Liverpool looking for their next Marketing Manager

Job Description

The Marketing Manager role is involved the following remit:

  • Anticipating and meeting customer needs and expectations through effective business planning, and use of market segmentation/ customer insight research.
  • Assisting in the development strategy & work with the relevant divisions across the organisation to adapt products and services to reflect the diverse needs of customers.
  • Lead on customer testing and insight initiatives, putting the customer at the heart of everything and deliver.
  • Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to make the customer offer is relevant, easy and simple to understand, access, obtain and use.
  • Making sure all customer communications anticipate customer needs and are tailored to requirements
  • Effective campaign planning and operational management of internal and external resources - including external marketing agencies and consultants.
  • Effective management and delivery of marketing/promotional activity to support corporate priorities and provide effective information and messages to customers.
  • Budgetary Control - Annual budget setting, prioritisation and overall control of marketing budgets (including internal budgets and external funds secured through European Union etc).
  • Maximising financial resources to deliver value for money solutions and activities.
  • Resource Control - Managing staff resources within the Marketing & Product Development Team.
  • Employing effective measurement, monitoring and review processes associated with all activity undertaken by the Marketing & Product Development Team.
  • Effective analysis and assessment of options in the formulation of business planning to support corporate plan.
  • Establish processes for creating effective marketing messages and concepts including creative development and the use of digital and social media marketing channels.
  • Ensure all marketing activities and materials adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Oversee the management of operations of digital estate including corporate web sites, marketing CRM and social media channels (as appropriate).

The Successful Applicant

To be successful as the Marketing Manager you will have the following experience:

  • Professional Marketing or equivalent degree level qualification in a similar field.
  • At least 2 years managing a similar size team in a marketing or communications team with strong digital and commercial development knowledge
  • A proven track record of imaginative and results orientated marketing management, including brand development.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of effective, intelligence led marketing and development strategies at a corporate level.
  • Experience of successful marketing campaign planning and execution, including the full marketing mix.
  • Managing external agencies and suppliers to achieve creative, effective and value for money executions.
  • Proven management skills, including staff management, financial control, business planning, monitoring and evaluation etc.
  • Customer centric approach based on a clear understanding of customer needs, expectations and preferences.
  • Able to use and manage CRM/CMS systems and digital analytical tools such as Google Analytics and Mosaics.
  • Personal strengths - Leadership, creative, practical, problem- solving, diplomatic, strong communication, influencing and presentation skills, strategic thinker, resilient, self-starter, proactive, able to oversee and deliver multiple projects at the same time.
  • Understanding & management of Customer Relationship Management networks.
  • Knowledge and use of return on investment and other relevant measurement tools to improve performance.
  • Microsoft office- Word- Intermediate, Excel - Basic, Powerpoint- Intermediate.
  • Marketing and product development in the public sector.
  • Understanding of public transport, the leisure sector and tourism structures within the Liverpool City Region.
  • Membership of appropriate professional body.
  • Experience of European Projects.
