About Our Client
A public sector organisation based in South Yorkshire
For this role you will be working with the Head of Department, Internal Engagement Manager and Public Engagement Manager to develop and implement a consistent strategic and joined-up approach towards all external communications activity.
As a Media Gold Communications Officer in the context of major and critical incidents, develop and direct the implementation of media strategies, often on behalf of several different agencies; co-ordinate arrangements to provide a 24/7 media services response to such incidents in order to ensure public safety and confidence and enhance operational performance.
Maintain and enhance positive relationships with national, regional and local media organisations to maximise positive and supportive coverage for the organisation.
Produce and develop a media training for all key stakeholders to ensure that they know how to react to media enquiries.
The Successful Applicant
- Demonstrable experience in the delivery of strategic media services in a large organisation.
A proven track record managing significant and protracted media interest in the context of high profile / crisis management stories
Demonstrable experience in the co-ordination of multi-agency communications activity and stakeholder management.
A proven ability to generate positive media coverage.
A solid understanding of the media (traditional and social and digital).
Extensive experience of using a range of communications products and traditional and social and digital media platforms.
Excellent knowledge of legislation which impacts upon media coverage and criminal justice procedures.
Proficient in the use of various computer systems and databases including Microsoft Office, Photoshop and in the use of social and digital media platforms
