About Our Client

Michael Page Fashion are looking for a Merchandiser for a fast fashion retailer based in the North East.

Job Description

The Merchandiser will be responsible for the following:

  • To be responsible for developing the merchandising strategy in conjunction with the Finance Director.
  • To be responsible for meeting targets set by the Finance Director particularly in relation to number of weeks stock cover and profit margins.
  • To analyse sales and website data on a weekly basis using historic and real time data.
  • To work closely with the buying team to plan balanced product ranges to maximise sales potential.
  • To forecast sales, margins and profitability based on trading events.
  • To forecast sales reflecting current trading issues and recommend to finance dept the level of open to buy budget on a monthly and quarterly basis and seek approval.
  • To liaise with the IT team to specify reporting variables and suggest any developments needed.
  • To track purchase orders spend versus open-to-buy categories.
  • To formulate the seasonal plan to determine the number of releases, the appropriate level of stock and the right mix of categories.
  • To liaise with the finance department on monthly actual sales and review company plans versus company performance.
  • To recommend offers/promotions by providing information to the creative department on appropriate categories and merchandising.
  • To analyse and manage stock levels and categories.
  • To report on slow selling lines weekly.
  • To consolidate data into spread sheets and present monthly on the KPI's on stock, sales and margins with recommendations to increase business performance.
  • To recommend solutions for liquidating terminal stock.
  • To establish and maintain effective working team relations.
  • To support Directors and the management team and attend trading and other meetings as requested.
  • To cover for other buying staff when necessary.
  • To perform any other duties typical of the post when required.

    • Proven ability to produce results in high stress situations.
    • Time management and work prioritisation.
    • Strong inter-personal skills used to best effect in training, management and communication at all levels.
