Merchandisers are at the heart of the business and at JD Sports you would be working as part of a leading merchandising team in a fast, dynamic, diverse and exciting environment. Working closely with Buyers and Designers you will be an integral part of the team responsible for delivering all company KPI's. They are recruiting merchandise professionals across all levels with the skill, drive and passion to be part of their ongoing success.

Job Description

We are recruiting Merchandising positions from Junior merchandiser to Senior merchandiser level across all group fascia's (Sport, Outdoor and Fashion). Depending on your level you will be responsible for the following;

  • Identify risks and opportunities and incorporate these into the planning process to maximise profit
  • Construct and plan the optimum range for the target market by balancing price architecture, fashion/risk, colour, size and mixes throughout the stores
  • Manage the key profit drivers, sales, margins, mark-down and stock turnover to maximise profitability
  • Manage the department's reaction to 'Open to Buy', manage risk and maximise our best sellers.
  • Working with your team to understand previous season performance and using ' lessons learnt ' to help formulate the future seasons strategies
  • Constantly monitor and review store & channel performance in order to maximise profit
  • Together with the Buyer, ensure the critical path is realistic and achievable by working through the detail of each stage and ensuring the decisions are communicated to suppliers in good time
  • Review Previous Seasons and produce SWOT Analysis with supporting information.
  • Create category level product mix using history, SWOT and SMT Plan.
  • Ensure that the WSSI is updated with the buy plan and the KPI's are signed off.
  • Ensure that scheduling and Ideals are in place for your area of responsibility.
  • Build Layout plans in conjunction with buying and VM.
  • Manage the order books both in season and preseason to ensure that the most accurate information is always in the system.
  • Manage the Stock seasonality within the WSSI.

The Successful Applicant

You will be working as a Merchandise professional within a busy fashion retail environment, and have experience in the following:

  • Extensive Merchandising experience working already as a Assistant Merchandiser, Merchandiser or Senior Merchandiser level with sound management skills, ideally from a fashion background
  • Have an interest in fashion/retail
  • Highly numerate and analytical with an emphasis on attention to detail
  • Strong range planning and trading experience.
  • A methodical/logical approach to work with the ability to prioritise efficiently
  • Experience of Managing, coaching and developing a team
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills at all levels
  • Commercial Awareness
