Job Description

The company's success is founded on its reputation for being a great employer and are leading the way with their training and development programmes. They are looking to grow their organisation by nurturing their people and hiring a qualified and established National Account Manager.

As the National Account Manager for National and Independent Builders Merchants, you will have sole responsibility for developing and driving ambitious growth plans across your area. This opportunity is about ensuring strong and sustainable customer and dealer relationships, optimising distribution efficiencies and developing a high level of service.

The Successful Applicant

Critical to the success of this National Account Manager will be previous experience within a regional area, with a results driven track record of delivery in distribution, sales and retail activities, whilst able to create sustainable relationships with key stakeholders.

The successful candidate must have demonstrable track record of success, will have strong negotiation skills, and a customer focused approach with in depth knowledge of national and independent builders merchants, field sales and retailing. They will have strong commercial acumen, and will have had Profit and Loss accountabilities, with the ability to optimise costs and develop revenue streams.

  • Degree calibre
  • Extensive experience of National Account Management within the Builders Merchant Channel
  • Come from a building products background
  • A proven track record in improving team performance and implementing change
  • Focused on people development, adding value and consistently high service levels
  • Adept at managing complex negotiations associated with multi-channel & multi-site
  • Adept at influencing internal and external decision makers at all levels, including Board
  • Using innovative techniques to take new ideas to market
  • A background in both B2B and B2C activities would be advantageous
  • Strong ethics: work honestly and with integrity
