Job Description

The National Account Manager will strengthen Pelican's position in becoming a leading procurement specialist in this customer facing role. The successful candidate will spend time effectively delivering a bespoke winning proposition of purchasing, operation and finance that is completely flexible, scalable and adaptable to the client. You will develop and implement a sales strategy for a portfolio of clients each with an annual purchasing spend of over £300k that delivers growth by developing relationships with existing key stakeholders. The successful candidate will spend time presenting at supplier review meetings, identifying gaps/opportunities to cross-sell/up-sell Pelican's ten winning business solutions to existing clients, whilst also analysing, planning, reporting & forecasting and managing post sale relationships with the assistance of internal stakeholders.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be commercially aware with a strong understanding of P&L, as well as a track record of managing relationships with customers, understanding their needs and delivering appropriate solutions.

The National Account Manager will be extremely disciplined and motivated with an entrepreneurial approach and ability to champion and drive change, as well as the ability to work with minimum supervision.

With a track record/ability to work on multiple projects, prioritising workload and utilising internal support network the National Account Manager will have experience within a wholesale channel (food & drink or non food & drink) or experience of working for a manufacturer on a large category with multiple SKUs.

You will also have the ability to build strong internal relationships working closely with cross functional teams. You will be ideally based in the Home Counties, as the head office is just outside of Guildford and be comfortable with national travel.

Knowledge of purchasing and supply chain is of particular interest. This role could suit a buyer who has experience of managing national accounts.
