Job Description

The Contracts Manager supports the Commercial Manager / Head of IT Procurement within an assigned delivery area but which relates to the delivery of Projects through contracts with the supply chain.

This includes:

  1. Contracting works under the relevant partnering agreements:
    1. Administering work packages (scope, deliverables, commercial mechanism, costs, risk allocation and timescales)
    2. Managing work packages (performance, incurred costs, variations and claims)
    3. Managing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) through the work packages
    4. Supporting the Commercial Manager / Head of IT Procurement manage the overarching master partnering agreement(s)
  2. Contracting works outside of the partnering agreements:
    1. Sourcing strategies, tendering and contract awards
    2. Contract Management
  3. Creating a works schedule outlining delivery timescales and savings targets



The Contracts Manager works with the Commercial Manager in supporting the company in achieving value for money in the delivery of the capital investment plan and the opex plan through contract management, supplier performance monitoring and supplier relationship management. In addition, the Contracts Manager supports the assurance all commercial activity within the delivery area including cost plans, cost reports, risk allocation, change management etc.

The contracts manager will be able to operate effectively and independently in the sourcing and contract administration of the complete suite of the company contracts (eg NEC, IT etc..)

Robust tender analysis, contract formation, post contract admin and supplier performance data

The Successful Applicant

  • Graduate degree supported by professional qualifications e.g. MRICS, CIPS, APM, CEng or able to demonstrate equivalent capability along with legal awareness and experience in drafting complex and bespoke contract terms
  • Extensive experience (at least 6 years) in a variety of Procurement and Contracting models (and specifically in NEC based Contracting environments for construction related roles), using a range of reimbursement models
  • Experience of delivering Projects to meet business affordability targets.
  • Experience of working in an integrated project team involving supplier partnering organisations.
  • Experience of working in a matrix organisation with proven people and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in managing teams across different locations.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a structured process environment supported by an on-going desire to continually improve.
