Job Description

  • Setting shift processing and packing plans.
  • Ensuring correct staff and skills available to fulfil planned requirements.
  • Identify skills shortages of team members and work with Operations Manager to develop and coach team members.
  • Ensure the site is operated to company Health and Safety Policy and that GMP standards including housekeeping are met at all times.
  • Monitoring and reviewing production conformance to plan and PSQCS departmental KPI's.
  • Updating production data (planned v actual).
  • Ensuring correct and timely supply of materials required to fulfil planned requirements.
  • Carry out daily GMP and Health and Safety audits.
  • Update the shift scorecard and communicate performance at daily meeting to teams as necessary.
  • Proactively deal with and prioritise shift actions relating to delivery of People, Safety, Quality, Costs and Service expectations.
  • Identify any potential losses and waste in all forms (Time / Product / Yield etc.) and propose actions to improve/remove.
  • Understand principles of lean manufacturing and the ability to take a continuous Improvement approach to process improvement
  • Ensuring preparation is complete so that the on-coming shift is correctly set up and ready to operate.
  • Ensure all team members understand and fulfil their safety, Quality and Operational Effectiveness responsibilities.
  • Work proactively with processing, packing and logistics teams to improve site standards and efficiencies.
  • Ensure any specific engineering issues are accurately documented in the shift scorecard and effectively communicated to the engineering team

The Successful Applicant

    • Excellent general standard of education or with extensive relevant work experience
    • IOSH Managing Safely
    • HACCP
    • Proven track record of experience gained within a manufacturing operation utilising Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing techniques, ideally with FMCG Production experience but not essential.
    • Direct supervisory experience of >20 personnel
    • Capable leader and strong manager
    • Excellent communicator at all levels with strong interpersonal skills
    • Numerate with the ability to analyse information to support and present their decisions
    • Ability to perform and communicate risk assessments
    • Ability to challenge and drive business improvement
    • Continuous Improvement training and experience
    • Experience of Lean Manufacturing Systems and implementation
    • Computer literate, with ability to utilise Word, Excel, Power point, etc
    • Customer focused and commercially aware
    • Ability to work under pressure within a high performance, fast moving environment
