Global Freight Forwarder

Job Description

Key functions of the role:

* Liaise directly with carrier and customers on shipment planning and coordination

* Engage with dedicated customer on daily basis ensuring goods move as planned.

* Complete ad-hoc freight procurement

* Handle and be experienced in international documentation such as; Bill of Lading, Letters of Credit & Bills of Exchange

* Advise on or complete customs clearance

* Investigate customer queries and concerns

* Liaise directly with carriers and agents to resolve exceptions and discrepancies as they arise

* Ensure adherence to set KPI's

* Day to day carrier management

* Any other duties as required

The Successful Applicant

Handling all aspects of international freight movements (export by Sea, air and/or land) You will act as a conduit between our customer and carriers to ensure all needs are met within the specified delivery time, taking responsibility for monitoring progress and keeping the customer advised of the status.

In order to apply for this role you will have experience within sea exports. with the ability and confidence to deal with difficult situations if the need arises and the ability to consistently meet deadlines in a timely manner.


* 3 + year's experience within the Freight Forwarding Industry

* Very good understanding of day to day ocean freight operations

* Excellent attention to detail

* Clear understanding of the principles of global supply chains and logistics operations

* Practical and procedural knowledge of international documentation

* Clear and concise communication skills (written and spoken)

* Able to work on own initiative and to take responsibility and ownership of situations and decisions

* Ability to support a culture of continuous improvement

* Inter-personal skills - Influencing, communication, relationship management, cultural awareness and ability to work across teams


* Experience of customs procedures

* Held supervisory or management role

* US import process and procedures

* Experience of UK/EU road freight

* Knowledge of shipments, Airfreight and Imports

* Knowledge of the agricultural or food ingredients industry

What's on Offer
