Building on an impressive history, they now enter a new and stimulating period of growth and require an Operations Director to help continue driving the organisation forward.

Job Description

Reporting into the Managing Director, the Operations Director has overall accountability for all aspects of operational performance, health, safety and environmental impact at the manufacturing facility. The role is responsible for total site operational headcount based at the business unit site.

  • Ensure that a Safety First culture is maintained throughout the Manufacturing Site
  • Ensure that all Food Manufacturing Standards through operational activity are in line with Food Standards Agency Legal Compliance and in line with Customer Audit expectations
  • Working as part of a senior management team alongside technical, finance and sales functions
  • Delivery of operational performance to optimise Units per Man Hour and Direct / Indirect Labour pence per unit
  • Motivational leadership of a diverse team
  • Drive Engineering Effectiveness & improve site OEE through reduction of Downtime through Asset Management, PPM and Spare Part standardisation and availability
  • Drive Cost Efficiency projects to deliver cost base improvements
  • Ensuring a systematic approach to planning and control of all operational management activities
  • Champion and Drive Lean Business Enterprise to embed modern manufacturing techniques across the sites
  • Seek involvement in and/or leadership of best practice development and exchange with peers in Division and Group
  • Continue development of Operational structure to ensure future succession plans are in place for critical and key skill roles within the business capability
  • Act as a champion for the annual People at the Core Survey in Operations, ensuring appropriate action planning and follow through
  • Constant scrutiny of all processes driving a continuous improvement culture whilst maintaining effective employee relations and engagement
  • Involvement with NPD to establish manufacturing processes for new products

The Successful Applicant

In order to be successful in your application you will be qualified to degree level or equivalent and have a track record of working within the food manufacturing industry, ideally with some Chilled Food experience. You will also have a intellect and the ability to engage people at different levels in the organisation in order to develop best practice in manufacturing.
