Our client is currently migrating from MS SQL to Oracle and this has led to a new role within the existing BI Development team.

Job Description

Oracle BI Developer - Global Insurance Brand, West London

Once the migration is complete the Oracle BI Developer role is responsible for developing and delivering BI solutions across Europe. The role will gather requirements from clients and internal business areas and work in a consultative capacity to assemble, analyse, challenge, document and deliver these requirements. In addition this role will drive day-to-day data management, data quality and reporting initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate for this position must possess exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to interpret business requirements and define both functional and system requirements. At a technical level the individual should have strong Oracle database skills, the ability to design data models, develop ETL routines, write queries and create reports and data extracts. Of key importance is the ability to provide effective easy to understand commentary on any analysis produced. This person must be a confident and effective communicator in both the oral and written medium, and be comfortable engaging with a variety of cross functional audiences.

Essential skills required:

  • Strong ability to translate business requirements into BI specifications.
  • Strong development experience of Oracle databases and Visualisation tools
  • Fundamental understanding of data quality, integrity, and security standards.
  • Solid understanding of data and reporting design.
  • Strong testing experience covering regression, unit and system testing processes.
  • Understand the use of data transfer diagnostic and monitoring tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge data backup and recovery plans, processes, and tools.
  • Have experience working within a formal Software Development Life Cycle, preferably within an Agile project environment.
  • Solid communication skills in oral and written forms - ability to convey and understand complex ideas.
  • Solid end user and client management skills - good at building productive relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in an organized manner according to priorities.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills - ability to work alone and as part of a team.

Desirable Skills:

  • Development experience of Microsoft SQL Server databases, SSRS and Transact-SQL.
  • Tibco Spotfire ideally or similar Visualisation tool (Qlikview, Tableau etc)
  • Resource planning and people management / leadership.
  • Significant experience in working with high-volume mission critical transactional and reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of the Wireless communications and or Insurance industry and technologies.
  • Experience of working with sensitive customer data and with an awareness of EU regulations and controls.
  • End user training on BI tool use and reporting data.
  • Strong presentation skills to multiple levels within the Client and Asurion organizations.
