Job Description

We are currently looking for a Payroll Auditor to work within the Commercial Business Unit to monitor and evaluate how well the payroll is being managed. Giving assurance to senior management that risk is managed, the business is being governed and that their internal processes are working and that their contracts are being managed efficiently. Whilst also looking to improve existing processes, identify new opportunities and share good practice throughout the business.

The main focus of the role will be to ensure that any issues that have the potential to impact on the business financially either by contract or divisionally are identified, investigated and reported, taking into consideration business factors such as reputation, growth, environmental impact, treatment of employees and ethics.

This role would suit an individual who is looking for a new challenge within the business with an opportunity to travel throughout the UK, visit a variety of sites and work with colleagues at all levels throughout the business.

Responsibilities
*Attending meetings with key personnel and auditees to develop an understanding of business processes
*Travelling to different sites across the UK to meet relevant staff and review documents and assess the credibility of information
*Researching and assessing how well payroll processes are working and recording the results using software such as Microsoft Word and Excel
*Providing ad hoc advice and guidance to managers and staff at all levels, sometimes by delivering courses and training sessions
*Agreeing recommendations with relevant staff members to make improvements to operations and helping to secure backing for them in meetings
*Preparing unbiased, independent reports in line with business requirements to highlight issues or problems and distributing the reports to the relevant people.

The Successful Applicant

Essential

*Strong audit discipline skills
*Ability to work to deadlines and follow instruction
*Reliable and punctual
*Good presentation and a courteous, professional manner
*Self-motivated and enthusiastic with a desire to learn and progress
*Ability to carry out specific tasks with minimum of supervision

Desirable

*Payroll, accounting or operational experience
*Intermediate knowledge of payroll contractual requirements
*Critical thinking: Applying process analysis, business intelligence, and problem solving techniques
*An ability to review, understand and manage large amounts of data
*Sound knowledge of legislation in Payroll, Health, Safety and Environment
*Good communicator with colleagues at all levels with strong oral and written communication abilities
*Practices good customer care skills
*Capability to write professional reports
*Sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

What's on Offer

£40,000 basic salary + car allowance + pension + health.
