About Our Client

My client is a large international bank. This role is based in their offices in the City of London.

Job Description

The main tasks of the Payroll Manager role will be:

  • To assist the team in clearing current payroll reconciliation breaks
  • To review all P&C reconciliations to ensure that all are up to date and appropriate controls are in place
  • To train current staff (2 people) on all reconciliation related tasks with a view to putting in robust processes for the team to adhere to in the future. (This would include a basic introduction to book-keeping - as relevant to the tasks the team needs to perform).
  • To write / enhance process notes for all tasks performed by the team.
  • To review the new payroll process and build in checks that can be performed ahead of processing to ensure accuracy of data.
  • To re-develop the manual payroll journal that is created each month to assist in reconciliations.
  • Enhance the bank account review / booking process to ensure breaks are cleared in a timely manner
  • Ensure recharge process to Head Office is clear and is in place
  • Review spreadsheets with team members for potential process improvements
  • Other ad hoc tasks as appropriate.

The Successful Applicant

The Finance Manager will have the following skillset:

  • Qualified accountant
  • Financial Services background
  • Self-starter, able to motivate and train the team effectively.
  • Able to deal with a variety of systems / processes and make improvements
  • Good Excel skills
  • Good knowledge of payroll function and the various reconciliations & controls that need to be in place
  • Excellent reconciliation skills, with ability to delve deeper into any issues
  • Ability to direct and work with a team of non-finance staff and to train them up to the required standard

What's on Offer

This will be a 3 month contract role with immediate start based in my client's offices in Central London.
