About Our Client

Our client is one of the Big 4 accountancy firms in London. They have invested heavily in the team to protect and increase their market share. With ambitious plans for the future in terms of growth they are hiring in multiple areas. The first piece of the puzzle will be the PE M&A Opportunity Consultant.

Job Description

The PE M&A Opportunity Consultant will have varied and numerous responsibilities within the team. The expectation is that the successful candidate should have the ability to adopt an investor's mindset to create discussion documents that support pitch books and lay out the possible risks involved. Other responsibilities will include:-

  • Delivering timely, well researched discussion documents
  • Managing a team of analysts to deliver research to a prescribed template
  • Liaising with SMEs to capture their insights on the asset and on the wider sector to integrate into the documents
  • Actively engage and leverage knowledge across the full deals division and the wider firm
  • To have a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when managing diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them; have a clear understanding of the firm's commitment to creating a more inclusive culture

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate's profile will be quite specific. They will need to be financially qualified with either an ACA, CFA or MBA (from a reputable institution). They will also need to have worked in mergers & acquisitions, an investment bank or consulting role previously. Both of these points are completely non-negotiable. Additional skills required are:-

  • Demonstrable experience of managing analyst teams for company and industry research and analysis
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking and applying quantitative rigour in the context of assessing acquisition opportunities
  • A strong commercial and operational awareness and an ability to identify the factors that drive financial and operational performance in businesses and how their markets operate.
  • Understanding of business analysis in the transaction environment
  • Experience of interpreting financial accounts and statements
  • Experience in applying strategy consulting frameworks to business analysis
  • Ability to deliver sophisticated projects covering acquisition appraisals
