About Our Client

The client is a multi-million pound blue chip contract for this leading FM Service Provider and due to a restructure internally and increasing work levels they now need a Permit Officer / Works Controller to work within the wider HSSE team specifically to oversee and approve the permits of workers and external contractors who come on to site.

Job Description

Working as part of the HSSE team you will be covering a split day shift operating between 7.30 and 20.30 Monday to Friday. As the Works Controller you will be responsible for ensuring that all works carried out by the client and its subcontractors within the London Estate meet the requirements of the company's statutory requirements, and local compliance. A large part of this role is to ensure the professional management of all work activities that require a formal Permit to Work or an Authorisation to Work. This will include:

Managing and conducting all site inductions.

Ensure that all requests for work authorisation London sites are managed within the required timescales.

Issuing of Work Management and Works Authorisation forms for all works carried out under the jurisdiction of London sites

Setting to work and supervision of Subcontractors, the specialist agencies responsible for obtaining all approvals, licenses and permits from all regulatory agencies and supervision bodies.

Liaising with the Site FM and engineering teams to ensure that open lines of communication are maintained.

The Successful Applicant

To be considered for this role you must have previous experience managing a wide range of technical activities as well as the following:

Understands basic requirements imposed by the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act (HASAWA), associated regulations

Previous experience of managing a wide range of technical activities

Minimum of IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent

Knowledge of Appointed Persons process (HV/LV/Mech/Confined

Project planning experience.

Knowledge and understanding of statutory and mandatory compliance and the associated regulations

Competent in MS Office and standard desktop software

Background in M&E engineering from withina Facilities Management environment

A good understanding of document control techniques

Communication skills at all levels within organisations

Understanding Risk Assessments, Method statements, their legal status and required standard of these documents
