A leading magazine publisher based in Central London

Job Description


Work directly with Executives, Product Managers, Project Managers and Engineering teams to design, develop and implement new features and functionalities

Evaluate and recommend the best tools for the job

Be responsible for larger projects, building out new applications and architecture for the CMS platforms

Perform development work both independently as well as in small development teams, overseeing and managing a group of developers

Be able to provide the best technical direction for the team ensuring we focus on code reusability and best choice dependencies and partners.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have a development/architectural background with CMS platforms and be a great technologist that can define new development features in a simple way and passionate about new technologies/processes and their implementations.

Essential Attributes and Skills:

  • Strong practical knowledge of PHP and various PHP frameworks
  • Experience developing high traffic websites using multiple layers of caching. Specifically Varnish, Memcache, Redis
  • Experience building products from the ground up, especially in an early stage start-up environment, is a plus.
  • Experience with SCRUM and using JIRA
  • Knowledge of Design patterns and coding standards and the ability to share, define these practices with the team through training and code reviews
  • Knowledge of the latest frontend tech stacks and their benefits. JavaScript frameworks, SASS, Grunt, etc.
