Job Description

  • To manage the response to enquiries from representatives of the national, regional and local media
  • Determine appropriate actions in dealing with media enquiries, including determining whether information should be issued proactively and which information should and should not be issued in line with policy and practice
  • To gather all the information relevant and necessary to deal with media enquiries, analyse it and communicate it to the appropriate media or people who may need it
  • To devise press releases, statements or response when required and arrange for them to be disseminated via the recorded news line, email, the intranet and the internet
  • To have good working knowledge of current affairs and related issues on the news agenda

The Successful Applicant

  • Able to produce written media quickly and accurately within required timescales
  • Awareness/knowledge of different methods of disseminating information to the media e.g briefings, press conferences and press releases
  • Able to anticipate the needs of journalists and demonstrate an understanding of the news value of the organisations activities
