Job Description

The successful press officer will be comfortable communicating with of a wide number of stakeholders (internal/external) across all levels of the organisation. They will be responsible for implementing an ongoing programme of media activity. The role is instrumental in helping to shape the communications strategy of the organisation, whilst ensuring that the output is innovative and creative to actively engage. The role involves both proactive and reactive PR whilst also having an impact on internal communications.

The Successful Applicant

  • To assist and deliver a programme of regular communications targeted at local, regional and national press.
  • To implement and develop a programme of exciting, engaging and hard-hitting news stories.
  • To produce and implement exciting and engaging PR project plans.
  • To produce a six month rolling programme for news releases.
  • Produce regular media evaluation reports across all media forms.
  • Ability to successfully position the organisation on any controversial issues.
  • Establish and ensure a high level of media coverage.
  • Ability to identify and create media opportunities.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with key national and local journalists.
  • Assist the Media Manager in successfully ensuring the media training of key personnel.
  • Ensure all employees are kept informed of developments within the organisation.

What's on Offer

The Press Officer role attracts a salary of between £25,000 and £27,000 dependant on the experience of the candidate. The role is for an initial period of 9 months with the opportunity to extend to 12 months.
