About Our Client

The client is part of a market leading group of entrepreneurial and innovative businesses within the Engineering and Construction sectors. You will be joining a developing procurement function managing various indirect commodity contracts in addition to being the spearhead of Facilities Management across the group. This represents an excellent role for someone looking to broaden their skill-set and enhance their category exposure.

Job Description

To develop, present and obtain sign off from key stakeholders of a company wide facilities management / purchasing strategy.

To build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and provide best practice purchasing skills to non-purchasing staff to encourage professional purchasing through out the business.

To take ownership of and work with the appropriate stakeholders to compile all the relevant specifications and standards for all sub categories with the aim of standardising specifications, standards and processes across all locations.

To effectively negotiate prices, contracts, conduct tenders and bench-marking exercises in line with departmental policy and procedures.

To formulate, agree and maintain commercial terms and conditions, service levels and supply agreements using standard templates where possible.

To develop category and supplier catalogues, ensuring contracts and price file data are in place and maintained and all commercially sensitive information is correctly retained.

To project manage the implementation of any agreed strategies, contracts or processes and ultimately become the company point of contact for all operational issues relating to Facilities Management.

To conduct regular supplier reviews / audits and address any supplier performance issues using supplier management and improvement techniques.

To identify, coordinate and drive continuous improvement projects both internally and with the suppliers.

To maintain the integrity of the data in SAP, including suppliers, materials, purchase orders and pricing data.

To ensure the performance targets of the category/department are met and all MEL policies are communicated and adhered to.

To carry out any other tasks as may be deemed necessary by the Purchasing Manager.

The Successful Applicant

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Good communication skills with the ability to engage, collaborate and influence
  • Good numerical and analytical skills, with a structured and methodical approach
  • High level of self-motivation with a practical, flexible and innovative approach
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask, project manage and achieve deadlines whilst maintaining attention to detail
  • Good knowledge of the legal aspects of purchasing with the ability to formulate purchasing contracts and service level agreements.
  • Strong negotiation skills with proven experience of tendering and cost management.
  • IT literate, a full driving licence is required as travel will be an essential part of the role.
