Job Description

  • Responsible for £100m spend. Procurement activity, management information and reporting requirements, savings and efficiencies.
  • 3 direct reports
  • Responsibility for procurement strategy and policy manage and develop commercial policies and procedures in line with current legislation and best practice.
  • Provide leadership and direction for direct reports defining workloads, planning implementation including dependencies between projects. Meeting defined development plans including cost and quality constraints utilising a structured approach to project management (PRINCE2 methodology) and business analysis to meet identified needs. Providing regular reporting of progress to a significant and varied client base.
  • Lead managers and teams and key partners and suppliers and manage the implementation of strategies, policies, projects and programmes that inform, improve and drive the organisations' commercial and operational performance. Ensure value for money can be identified and realised by the client.
  • Hold budget responsibility and authorise expenditure for procurements which deliver contracts across all non pay areas of all client services within the agreed scope.
  • Control and authorise local spend, control and facilitate revenue income and liaise with clients to ensure that value is achieved and that savings and revenues are realised.

The Successful Applicant

  • Experience of providing creative solutions, challenging current thinking and trends by influencing stakeholders to change practices in the transformation of procurement.
  • Experience in a senior position within a commercial structure
  • Substantial experience of leading and managing teams to meet challenging organisational goals, including objective setting, performance management and leading by example. Experience of deploying a range of leadership/management skills to enhance individual/organisational performance
  • Experience of implementing changes, new methods of working and improving performance
  • Hold recognised Accountancy or Procurement qualifications (ACCA/CIMA/MCIPS)
