Reporting into the Category Manager, my client based in Edinburgh is looking for a Procurement Professional (Fixed Term Contract) with Public sector experience to deliver a professional procurement service to customers and suppliers both internally and externally.

To deliver, as part of the Procurement Office Team, a sustainable procurement strategy to identify individual customers' needs and to deliver major procurement projects on time and on budget and develop common approaches to market through agreed commodity procurement strategies, to meet the strategic objectives

To manage key suppliers' performance against contracts or other arrangements and to manage these relationships with their main customers. Maintain communications with other suppliers to provide advise on current and future requirements, to develop competition, deliver corporate social responsibility, and process efficiency (e.g. e-Sourcing, eProcurement) emphasising these benefits to suppliers and customers

To assist in the development, with the Procurement Team Leader, and deliver, appropriate web-based or other guidance, offer training to internal stakeholders to ensure good practice and streamline processes which can demonstrate value for money, whole life costing and efficient processes.

Managing conflicting priorities and agree with Team Leader on priorities for limited resources to meet growing demand for professional procurement support across all areas

Troubleshooting on tender and contract performance / management issues, escalating if appropriate

Influencing research and School or Support Unit purchasing teams to engage with good practice / training to meet funding body expectations e.g. for legal probity, Full Economic Costing and efficiency measurement

Ensuring that the job-holder keeps up to date in changing technical, health and safety, legislative and market scene for commodities delegated

The Successful Applicant

Reporting into the Category Manager, my client based in Edinburgh is looking for a Procurement Professional with Public sector experience to deliver a professional procurement service to customers and suppliers both internally and externally.

The post holder should have full CIPS membership or equivalent qualifications e.g. a relevant degree, or be making progress towards MCIPS, coupled with substantial relevant experience, across a wide range of product and service areas.

At least 3 years experience in procurement, demonstrating good commercial and project management skills, high personal credibility and ethics.

Good communication skills and understanding of customer service, negotiation and influencing skills.

Computer and analytical skills.
