About Our Client

Banking client based in the City of London require a Product Controller

Job Description

The Product Controller will take responsibility for some of the P&L Production process. This includes, but is not limited to, the following major tasks:

Reporting of Daily, Monthly & Year to Date Trading P&L and Balance Sheet for assigned desks

Daily and monthly running of Balance sheet accruals and FOBO reconciliations

Ensure all balance sheet related breaks are investigated and resolved in a timely manner

To participate in essential administration tasks required in the department

Analyse and report on material adjustments to the P&L, including discrepancies to the Front Office flash.

Provide appropriate weekly and monthly commentary / analysis for Head of Department.

Ensure timely, accurate and controlled reporting of the Bank's trade portfolio.

Ensure that the Bank's trade portfolio is accurately represented within the General Ledger by operating a suitable control framework.

Build good working relationships with other departments.

To help deliver on transformation targets as and when called upon (UAT testing, parallel testing, providing cover)

The Successful Applicant

The Product Controller will have:

  • Extensive Product Control experience;
  • Exposure to working in Financial Services;
  • Exposure to derivative products and associated accounting entries;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Good grasp of product accounting;
  • Good all round product knowledge across product classes;
  • Competent user of Microsoft Excel & Access;
  • Undergraduate Degree level or equivalent experience;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Takes at least partial ownership of issues and tasks, and agrees actions required
  • Uses initiative and is proactive in managing, reporting and communicating;
  • Team working skills;
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and to manage expectations of others effectively;
  • Able to deal with high volumes of work whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
