Job Description

The Product Manager for this retail company based in Bath, Somerset, will be responsible for:

  • Maximise the competitiveness and profitability of their range by the continuous review of market conditions
  • Become the company expert on a specific market sector in terms of range, price and content translation. Status built through networks and trade bodies appropriate to the specific market sector
  • To identify and specify new products which meet customer, market and business requirements
  • Responsible for maintaining and strengthening cross-company communication channels in respect of product/sector issues and news
  • Drive cross category and cross company initiatives as appropriate in support of the Head of Category Management
  • Produce and communicate status and progress reports as required
  • Responsible for generating or sourcing high quality content
  • Own the coordination and delivery of published pricing in line with company strategy
  • Line Management of supporting Merchandiser - Ensure that all team management processes and activities are completed
  • To manage and analyse successful promotional activity through catalogue, online and other direct marketing campaign activity
  • Overlay market intelligence into commercial forecasting
  • Strong commercial support into bids and tenders.
  • To drive continuous improvement of product management processes and outputs

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate for the Product Manager role based in Bath will need to possess the following key skills and experience:

  • Previous Category Management, or Product or General Marketing experience
  • Commercially creative with a strong profit focus
  • Strong analytical approach
  • Relationship building skills
  • Research/sourcing experience
  • Advanced IT skills particularly in Excel
  • Highly articulate and numerate with an excellent attention to detail
  • A high level of personal drive to succeed
  • Outwardly confident personality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to engage and motivate at all levels
  • A performance driven self-starter
  • Ambassador of Company Values
  • Graduate preferred (but experience, ability and aptitude are more important)
