About Our Client

Our client are a manufacturing business who are based in Trowbridge. They are growing as a business and are looking for an experienced Production Engineer to add to their busy team.

Job Description

  • To design, development & improvement of new & existing assembly processes.
  • To have & maintain an in-depth understanding of assembly processes & technologies.
  • To establish assembly trial programmes, carry out and/or supervise and/or oversee the first-off sampling process for new processes.
  • To prepare & release assembly specifications in line with the results of the analysis & assembly trials.
  • To understand the effects of process variables on the engineering performance of components, optimising process capabilities, costs & material flow through experimental design & commissioning.
  • To support the Purchasing team with the development & selection of existing & new assembly suppliers.
  • To understand the commercial significance of projects & the importance of controlling costs, meeting project timings & customer approval objectives.
  • To ensure that all relevant APQP documentation is completed in accordance with project timings.
  • To design tooling & equipment in order to meet project objectives & to ensure that all new & existing equipment meet the relevant current Health, Safety & Environmental legislation.
  • To provide training & instruction to manufacturing & prototype personnel for all new processes & equipment during product development & introduction into production.
  • To support the manufacturing site to ensure that all relevant processes are maintained to an acceptable
  • To introduce capable & proven assembly processes to manufacturing. To support, maintain & develop current production processes to improve quality, capability with the aim to reduces costs.

The Successful Applicant

The suitable Production Engineer will have:

  • Industrial experience & knowledge within production engineering projects
  • Experience within the automotive industry
  • Full understanding of high volume production processes
  • Tool design & material selection
  • Lean manufacturing, including SMED, 6 sigma, Kaizan & wastes
  • FMEA, SPC & capability analysis

What's on Offer

£30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience
