Job Description

As the Water Based Adhesive Production Manager you will be responsible for managing and improving the departments processes & people, within their Leicestershire based site, The HSE Officer responsibilities cover the full site activity including office based staff a total of 80 people. Reporting into the Site Manufacturing Manager you will be responsible for developing the health a safety culture of the operational work force, whilst taking a proactive approach to managing the day to day running of the manufacturing facility. This individual will be working closely with the Engineering Manager and Manufacturing Manager to make up the Senior Management Team recruiting and training new and current employees to improve OTIF, OOE and production output; alongside developing customer relations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support Safety as the No 1 priority
  • Work to deliver a Zero Accident performance, ensuring that the requirements of the company management systems for H&S and Environment are understood and implemented across the site.
  • Organises and runs one or several production units to execute the production plan by optimising the available resources.
  • Is responsible for the scheduling and team planning to manufacture products of quality, in compliance with the time and cost constraints in order to meet the operational objectives set by the management.
  • Controls and follows-up on the production unit activity and is proactive in providing solutions and improvements if needed (investments, evolution of production processes).
  • Is expected to drive cultural and behavioural change in production if requested in the local context.
  • Manage production resources to meet operational objectives.
  • Maximise the throughput and asset efficiency.
  • Manage daily production schedules.
  • Develop staff to support operational objectives.
  • Continuously measure and improve operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate production with purchasing, logistics, and maintenance departments.
  • Ensure all required environmental, health and safety, & quality training of subordinates is met.
  • Key member of Plant Leadership Team.
  • Coaching, training, and development of team members in their roles and also in corporate policies including but not limited to HSE management systems, MOC system, and formalises and document Management System procedures.
  • Practice safe work habits in accordance with local regulations, and Bostik specific HSE expectations. Demonstrate ongoing visibility at sites & consistent interaction with staff and contractors at all level.
  • Minimise waste (time, products etc.).
  • Ensures that the Site Safety Action List is current and that actions are being taken to address areas of risk.
  • Ensures that reporting requirements are met (Bostik UK and Corporate reporting requirements).

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will, preferably:

  • Show confidence in their ability and approach to their work
  • Have experience of leading from the front
  • Show a passion for promoting a safe working environment
  • Have a methodical and proactive mentality to problem solving
  • Had some exposure to P&L responsibility
  • Come from a FMCG background which incorporates mixing, blending or comparable processes.
  • Hold a Chemistry/Science or Food Science degree or equivalent Engineering Qualification desired
  • Minimum 3 years experience managing production.
  • Prior first line supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility desired.
  • Hold the NEBOSH certificate desired
  • Exceptional organizational, leadership and communication skills in line with the Bostik way values.
  • Customer focused. Demonstrated knowledge of safety and environmental local regulations.
  • Ability to travel as required.
