About Our Client

My client is a UK based Pharmaceutical manufacturer, operating on an international scale within their current market. As a strong competitor in their field, they are keen to stay ahead of the curve within the manufacturing environment. They are now looking to improve their team efficiency and implement a culture change on site through knowledge of lean business techniques. They are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Production Manager with a proven record of improving team results through empowerment and driving culture change.

Job Description

The role will include but not be restricted to:

  • Background in the Pharmaceutical industry
  • Ensure the appropriate performance indicators and review mechanisms are in place to drive departmental performance
  • Ensure all shift teams manage the production of finished product to deliver line utilisation targets and production schedules
  • Ensure all shift teams manage the effective and timely completion of the maintenance plan
  • Utilise the input and the expertise of the other departments (Engineering, Production and QESH) to drive the production performance
  • Create and control the budget and that resources are deployed to ensure manufacture of finished product to deliver the site production plan
  • Effectively manage the use of resources (utilities, raw materials, packaging material, labour, spare parts)
  • Ensure best practices are shared and replicated with other departments and colleagues (internal and external) to improve production performance, yield, quality, safety and environment
  • Create and encourage an engaging environment that drives a continuous improvement and high performing team

The Successful Applicant

As a Production Manager you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience.

  • Apprentice trained, HNC or HND equivalent in a Manufacturing or Production Engineering discipline, with minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role and range of relevant manufacturing processes
  • Implementing, developing and managing a Lean manufacturing programme
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with demonstrable ability to influence others (upwards, downwards and peers) in a similar sized production operation / business
  • Deploying advanced manufacturing production techniques, plus the ability to reach production targets and develop the production team to meet agreed business objectives
  • Excellent communication skills coupled with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand fulfilment and inventory processes
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
  • Ability to challenge, negotiate and influence across a broad range of stakeholders will be required along with the ability to identify issues and propose solutions
  • Understand the importance of managing a varied workload with strict deadlines, be able to work under pressure and possess a calm organised approach and be able to prioritise tasks effectively.
