Job Description

A degree of collaboration and cooperation with other departments will certainly be required to achieve customer service and output requirements. Will need to be flexible to accommodate and revise plans to cover last minute changes to requirements.

However, the Planner above all must be prepared to take ownership and responsibility for ensuring the production plan, schedules and stock management are under their personal control.

  • Manage and maintain production plan.
  • Generate a daily set of production schedules in accordance with the prevailing production plan.
  • Pro-actively oversee and manage stock control including assisting the Purchase department in forecasting requirements.
  • Manage shop floor documentation and processes.
  • Loading production in the proportions by type agreed with management.
  • Working closely with the sales department and agreeing scheduling priorities in conjunction with current requirements.
  • Monitoring progress to ensure strict adherence to the plan and sounding the alarm bells to communicate any non-compliance
  • Updating and refreshing above as required by workloads and demands.
  • Establishing a strong, robust relationship with production and warehouse leadership; both providing and requiring information.
  • Establishing agreed routines for providing progress information.
  • Monitor production efficiency for review with management.
  • Active participation in weekly production meetings.
  • Notifying management and purchasing of any material issues which have the potential to impact output performance.
  • Undertake any ad hoc analysis which may be required.
  • Take responsibility for invoicing and managing customer tool hire.

The Successful Applicant

Must have:

  • Previous and recent experience in a similar role.
  • Computer literacy (training will be provided on company systems)
  • Excel intermediate user or better (able to graph information)
  • Communication skills between various departments


  • Professional qualification e.g. MIOM
  • Manufacturing/Engineering background
  • Understanding of the financial implications of inputs and outputs involved
  • Knowledge of various metals and their usage for forming finished items
