Job Description

As part of the Programme Manager role your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Take accountability for the successful delivery of a portfolio of Business Change and IT projects and programmes
  • Assign, track and manage budgets between £2- £5 million
  • Ensure programmes are shaped and defined in order to meet strategic objectives, budgetary requirements and with scope for future, undefined projects.
  • Represent your programme of work at Change Board meetings.
  • Be accountable to an Executive member for the delivery of the portfolio
  • Provide leadership and supervision to project managers, ensuring they are progressing with their individual assignments
  • Adhere to the programme governance and ensure others follow the correct methodology and processes.
  • Oversee the facilitation of the correct resource to the programme.
  • Identify and continuously manage programme risks and issues, ensuring delivery is not negatively impacted.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders in order to ensure successful delivery of programmes

The Successful Applicant

To be successful in your application for the Programme Manager role you will:

  • Have a strong background in either Programme or Portfolio Management
  • Have demonstrable experience of delivering business change/ IT programmes and portfolios to time and budget.
  • Be able to demonstrate how you have managed an organisation through a major transition
  • Have strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with Board members
  • Be able to adapt your style to allow for the soft side of business change to be delivered and to take business stakeholders on a journey with you.
  • Have strong commercial and financial acumen in order to manage programme budgets
  • Have strong influencing skills in order to negotiate required programme changes
  • Be Prince 2 or MSP certified
  • Be Degree educated.
