Job Description

Renowned Cambridgeshire employer are looking for a qualified Project Accountant with experience in a project or manufacturing environment to join a newly created pivotal project team responsible for driving forward improvements to processes and procedures aligned with a project ERP system.
The role will be a fixed term appointment for a period of up to 9 months.

Primary purpose of role

* Implementation of a programme of reviews and internal audits of a range of business processes in order to determine changes and improvements required.

* To review and correct inconsistencies with WIP data in order to support the effective and robust control of WIP, to review transaction posting rules and to verify outputs of related automated system processes.

* To liaise with functions to develop tools and processes to establish and support a reliable reporting framework. This will improve efficiency, internal controls and enhance the data integrity of the ERP system.

* To assist with implementing changes to processes having gained acceptance from those affected across the business and ensuring these are documented and understood, with appropriate monitoring established.

Other role specifics

* Assisting in defining the scope of project work packages and communicating regularly with project team sponsors to validate changes.

* Applying understanding of project accounting rules, standards and regulations in the context of an ERP system.

* Systems subject champion - supporting colleagues on queries and issues and helping to facilitate training required.

* Supporting ongoing continuous improvement.

The Successful Applicant

ACCA/ACA/CIMA Qualified.

* Self motivated with a proactive approach to work. This role requires a person who can demonstrate the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and under their own initiative.

* A strong aptitude for systems and experience of a variety of financial systems is a pre-requisite. System implementation experience would be highly desirable.

* Process re-engineering experience desirable.

* A clear, logical and structured approach is required in order to understand, document and challenge current processes.

* Effective communicator with the ability to communicate across all levels in the organisation and with non finance personnel.

* Ability to quickly assimilate information to gain understanding, improve decision making, and to identify areas of concern.

* Eager to learn and to propose practical solutions to problems.

* Ability and willingness to work within multi disciplinary teams.

* Highly organised with strong prioritisation skills.

* High levels of integrity and attention to detail.
