About Our Client

My client develops, regenerates and invests in property. The primary focus is on the London market. The client manages a portfolio of retained assets that combine strong investment returns with development opportunities.

My client has been developing properties for more than 40 years. In London they have completed schemes in Hammersmith & Fulham, and Kensington & Chelsea in the West; Knightsbridge, Westminster mid-Town and the City centrally; and Forest Hill and Dulwich to the East. Outside of London they have also completed projects in Heathrow, Brighton, Glasgow and the USA.

They currently have six projects ongoing, ranging from small regeneration schemes to large refurbishments and extensions to buildings across the commercial mixed-use and retail sectors. The client also has some residential schemes in its pipeline and needs a talented Project / Development Manager to join the team.

Job Description

Reporting to the Construction Director and working alongside two other PMs you will:

Oversee your own projects through planning stages;

Manage the appointment and negotiate terms with external consultants;

Work with the rest of the team throughout the design stages;

Draft and lead tender processes and the appointment of contractors;

Manage the delivery phase and oversee contractors from the client side;

50:50 split between office and site.

The Successful Applicant

To be considered for the role of Project / Development Manager you will have mixed-use design and build project management experience (in excess of six years PQE) and a demonstrable record of delivering commercial mixed use, retail and residential projects.

You may already be working with an existing developer, managing projects across the whole life cycle, or working at a consultancy or contractor. Different backgrounds will be considered but previous experience of having done something similar is essential.
You will have strong leadership and people management skills, be comfortable reading cost plans, setting and adhering to budgets and will have a strong understanding of the costs of development. Strong negotiation skills are essential.
