About Our Client

My client is a world leading Manufacturer of high end electronics. With a rich history spanning over 70 years and 11 manufacturing sites across the globe they have experienced double digit growth over the past decade. They are looking for a Quality Engineer to be part of their Manufacturing site in West Sussex - a fantastic opportunity to work with an exceptionally large portfolio of high end products.

Job Description

My client requires the successful candidate to forfill the following responsibilities for the Quality Engineer role -

  • To visit and liaise with customers on quality and technical issues providing appropriate responses and reports (including 8D/CAPA).
  • Prepare and provide customers with product analysis and reports to demonstrate field reliability and drive improvement.
  • Review and respond to customer score cards providing detail of planned improvements as appropriate.
  • Interface and liaise with sales, design, manufacturing and test to ensure the smooth flow of product and processes.
  • Carry out analysis using company data bases including NCR (Internal failures) / RMA (external failures) and test data using analytical tools including as appropriate Statistical Process Control (SPC) to identify areas for improvement.
  • Support NPI process utilising techniques such as VOC, DOE, Poke Yoke, DFMEA, DFM, QFD as necessary to ensure designs are optimised.
  • Use problem solving and root cause analysis techniques to improve product and process quality.
  • Lead /support improvement teams with the aim of continuous product and process improvement
  • Support quality, environmental and lean/6 Sigma initiatives.
  • Carry out quality and environmental management system audits.
  • Support the development of suppliers and help drive improvements in their quality and service.
  • Commit to achieving the company business, quality and environmental objectives and policies.
  • Other tasks as reasonably directed.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will need to present knowledge and a history of the following -

  • Ability to co-ordinate other departments and external customers/suppliers if necessary to run 8D investigations or DMAIC projects ensuring robust permanent corrective actions are implemented.
  • Knowledge of power supply design and ability to understand and work from schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of reliability analysis would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of up-to-date components and technology.
  • Ability to work under pressure to demanding time scales.
  • Ability to follow formal procedures and methodologies in accordance with ISO9001 & ISO14001.
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office.
  • "Hands on" approach.
  • Good team member with the ability to work with personnel at all levels within the company.
  • Customer Service; internal and external with strong interpersonal and communication skills oral and written.
