Job Description

  • The QA system is to be maintained, developed and improved in respect of business change, best practice, customer, certification and legal requirements. The QA Manager is responsible for conducing management reviews of the system at appropriate frequencies.
  • The company uses a multidisciplinary HACCP team in the management of food safety. The QA Manager has responsibility for ensuring the development and delivery of effective HACCP systems appropriate the company's product and process.
  • Review, develop and maintain systems in-line with certification, customer and legal requirements.
  • Carry out gap analysis and implement compliance measures in a timely manner and in advance of certification requirement change dates
  • Manage and maintain risk supplier quality assurance system in respect of supplier approval, review and specifications management. Work with purchasing to ensure that only approved suppliers are utilised and that the approved supplier list is appropriate for business requirements.
  • All documents to be written and issued in accordance with document control procedures.
  • Manage the internal audit programme in line with the internal audit procedure as defined by certification, customer and legal requirements.
  • Manage the QA team to effectively ensure that customer product complaints are handled in an effective manner.
  • Ensure that the QA team provides appropriate technical support to the NPD manager and NPD team in support of development projects.
  • Personnel reporting to the QA Manager are to be managed and developed in-line with current procedures and potential future requirements.

The Successful Applicant

BSc or higher in food related bio-science subject

Internal auditing qualification, e.g. lead auditor

Worked effectively as main contact for retailer technologists in previous roles

Managed team of QA / food technologist in manufacturing technical function

Breadth of experience across variety of food technical product categories

Management and delivery of supplier audit programme in the UK and elsewhere

Responsible for retailer and BRC gap analysis compliance programmes

Compliance and audit management for SEDEX programmes

Departmental financial accountability

Experience of ISO9001 and 14000 QMS / EMS system development and management

Ability to work and direct a team under pressure

Effective delegator and able to prioritise work
