About Our Client

As a leading practice group within an International Private Practice, my client advises on a wide range of real estate matters across a broad client base. The global team exceeds over 500 legal experts, and are keen to add a Real Estate Locum to enhance the capability of their London team.

They assist clients with investing, lending, developing, landowner or tenant issues, buying and selling real estate. They also provide expertise in real estate leasing, project finance, acquisition and disposition, development, construction, or investment and to resolve a real estate dispute.

Team transactional highlights include:

- Acting for most UK banks in relation to funding transactions
- Acting for a large hotel owner in the listing of a portfolio of UK hotels on the Singapore Stock Exchange.
- Acting for a large Developer on a large regeneration project involving sports stadia, hotels and residential development.

Job Description

The role is to work very closely with a number of large commercial clients, including leading retail, hotel and leisure clients. You will be expected to maintain and develop existing key clients within the team. You should be enthusiastic about client-facing situations and commercial in your approach to giving legal advice.

The successful candidate will provide advice on:

- Commercial Tenants and Occupiers
- Investment; working closely with funders
- Development; advising large Developers on mixed use and leisure developments
- Lease renewals; Advising on and negotiating Agreements for Lease (incl. conditional agreements sometimes involving licensing or planning)
- Due diligence
- Corporate support
and Sales and Purchases.

You will also be required at times to manage and assist more junior members of the Real Estate team when required.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be a commercial minded lawyer who is keen to work closely with the client, occasionally being called upon to work on secondment in addition.

You will be a 7PQE+ solicitor with excellent technical and client-facing skills.

The successful candidate will have working knowledge of:

- Landlord and Tenant;
- Investment;
- Sales and leasebacks, title investigation, Land Registry and real estate taxation including SDLT and VAT.
- Development;
- All aspects of Lease negotiation and Lease re-gears or re-structuring work and/or surrenders and re-grants.
and Sales and Purchases.

Ideally, you will have previous experience of instructing, supervising and managing more junior solicitors.

In addition, experience of shopping centre lettings acting for a major landlord would be an advantage. (This should include a working knowledge of different rental structures including turnover rents).

Please note that the PQE is indicative of level of experience only. Candidates outside of the indicated range will be considered should they be able to prove they have the capabilities necessary for the role.
