Job Description

Role Purpose



The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is accountable for the leadership of a defined geographic sales region. They have direct reporting responsibility for 8 to 10 Key Account Managers (KAM). The RSM is responsible for the financial performance of their Region, they also have a significant influence on the overall sales / GP performance of the division; therefore they need to think and act at a regional and national level. They need to be very competent at recruiting, training and developing the KAMs. A key element of the role is to effectively execute the sales strategy at pace and to develop it further using local and national business insight. The RSM ensures alignment with internal business partners to meet customer service needs. This is a senior sales management position within UK Sales.

As a Regional Sales Manager your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Management and Leadership of a remote field based team of 8 to 10 Key Account Managers (KAMs)
  • Accountable for the sales and profit for a defined geographical region
  • Responsible for the execution of the UK Sales Strategy and to support the ongoing development, using local and national market insight
  • Commercial responsibility for customer discount agreements delivering optimum return on all investments
  • Continually review whether the sales strategy is working and drive changes within the business in terms of support functions, processes and the overall offer
  • To develop strategic supplier relationships to support the UK sales strategy
  • Act as a role model in relation to new sales techniques and strategies e.g. insight led selling
  • Effective management of the Region's cost budget
  • Develop and implement a regional business plan, in line with the business strategy, utilising all available tools
  • To work with Internal Sales counterparts ensuring that the sales strategy and approach is aligned
  • To deploy the sales resource on all opportunities in and out of Portfolio, including Corporate customers
  • Responsible for coaching, training ,development and performance management of direct reports to create a high performance culture

Qualifications



As a Regional Sales Manager your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

  • managing remote field based teams
  • Financial and commercial experience e.g. P&L accounts, contribution, costs and budgetary control
  • Familiar with value led sales techniques
  • B2B sales experience
  • Ability to lead, inspire and motivate a team of diverse individuals
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Capable of presenting at board level
  • Transferring business vision into regional tactics
  • Demonstrable Planning, Time Management and Prioritisation skills
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Learning agile, with the ability to gain knowledge through thought, experience and by acquiring new information
  • Ability to build coalitions across the business with key stakeholdersAbility to deliver cultural change
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly motivated with probing tenacity to achieve and exceed objectives





Desirable:

Experience in one of the following industries will be of great advantage: MRO, Electronics, Food & Beverage, Oil & Gas
