This role is within a leading housing association in the North West. This housing association are known for their exceptional culture, high retention rate of staff and progression/development opportunities.

Job Description

The role is extremely varied and will involve a lot of project work alongside the day to day responsibilities. These will include but are not restricted to:

  • Review annually the Bad Debts and Rent and Service Charge Policies.
  • Preparation of the annual Rent Plan, including the calculation of rent increases.
  • Monitor income variances on a monthly basis in conjunction with budget holders, prepare quarterly forecasts and advise budget holders on corrective action for significant variances.
  • Identification and calculation of service charges ensuring appropriate consultation exercises are carried out where the introduction of new service charges is proposed and service charge statements are provided in accordance with variable service charge requirements.
  • Put in place appropriate procedures to ensure that all service chargeable expenditure is identified and robust costings are captured.
  • Provide ad-hoc advice, assistance and information to budget holders on budget monitoring of income, projects, financial appraisals, analysis and decision making.
  • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of actual, budget and forecast financial data relating to rents, service charges and other income.
  • Assist in the completion of the Statutory Accounts.
  • Assist with the strategic development of the Finance service.
  • Deputise for the Senior Management Accountant and undertake any other duties as required.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have the:

  1. Ability to Experience of preparing, monitoring and forecasting of budgets
  2. Computer literate with excellent Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to produce documents to a good and accurate standard
  3. Experience, knowledge and understanding of current legislation, guidance and best practice in relation to social housing rents and service charges
  4. Ability to develop and maintain financial information systems, processes and procedures
  5. Ability to demonstrate practical experience of providing advice and support on financial issues to a wide range of people at all levels.
  6. To contribute to the development and implementation of new initiatives.
