Job Description

The responsibilities for the reporting accountant position are the following:-

- Maintenance and monthly reconciliation of non-trading control accounts.

- Preparation of weekly and monthly capital expenditure reports, including the preparation of the monthly fixed asset reconciliation.

- Assistance with the preparation of the monthly group management accounts board pack.

- Assistance with the preparation of the quarterly and annual financial reporting for external bondholders.

- Assisting the Acquisitions department to develop the financial reporting procedures for new acquisitions.

- Assistance with the management of the day-to-day requirements of the external auditors.

- Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts for the group (IFRS), approximately 140 subsidiary companies (FRS102) and 120 partnerships, including assistance with the FRS102 conversion process during 2016 and deconsolidation of the businesses trading ledgers.

- Preparation of tax packs and liaison with external tax advisors to resolve queries prior to finalisation of tax computations

- Preparation of the quarterly group VAT return including calculation of the partial exemption position in consultation with the business and Practice Services finance teams

- Assist the Corporate Reporting Manager and Group Financial Controller to update the group's current Partial Exemption Special Method approved by HMRC.

- Forecast operational cash requirements for the group to ensure that cash is utilised efficiently through the group's borrowing facilities.

- Prepare analysis to assist with forecasting the group balance sheet and cash flow through the 6+6, 9+3 and Budget processes.

- Assist with the information gathering process for the renewal of the group's insurance programme including liaison with Practice Services and operational teams

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate would be a Qualified Chartered Accountant with excellent knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP accounting standards and disclosures. You would have experience of statutory accounts and tax computation preparation and review, ideally but not essentially having multi-site business and accounting experience too. This role would be perfect for a newly or recently qualified within the past 0-3 years chartered accountant looking for their first step into industry as the position will offer the chance to work on some interesting projects that do not arise very often.

In order to be successfully shortlisted you will need to have the following:-

- Qualified chartered accountant from Big 4 or Top 10.

- Excellent knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP accounting standards and disclosures.

- Experience of statutory accounts and tax computation preparation and review.

- Experience of multi-site businesses and accounting beneficial.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to liaise with colleagues at all levels and to present ideas clearly and concisely.

- Well organised and able to manage time effectively to meet multiple deadlines.

- Good knowledge of MS Excel.
