About Our Client

My client is a leading Pharmaceutical organisation based in Cheshire who are actively looking for a Qualified Accountant to join their dynamic finance team.

Job Description

Duties of this role include:

  • To be responsible through leadership and strong governance for the combined teams meeting Group, Commercial and UK/Sweden SET area reporting format requirements to published timetables. Success will depend on effective liaison with our outsourced offshore teams along with Financial / Business colleagues across Commercial Marketing Companies, Central Functions, UK and Sweden SET Areas and Corporate HQ to ensure clarity and drive stabilisation and improvements.
  • The role holder will report to the R2R Manager.
  • The key stakeholders are the Outsourced Finance Partners, Business Finance Teams at the Marketing Companies, UK / Sweden SET Areas, Group Reporting Services, Central Finance functions and the various internal and external auditors.
  • To effectively manage, provide leadership and support the outsourced team and ensure that Group Reporting requirements for the Units supported are delivered to a high standard and tight deadlines.
  • To provide strategic direction and support to outsourced team in delivering improvements & excellence, measured through cross function KPI's meeting levels of service to GFS stakeholders.
  • To pro-actively work with the combined team to build and stabilise the function and to partner with the outsourced provider to support the development, succession planning and resilience of the team such that the correct level of resourcing and skills are in place and people are equipped to deliver the required level of service to GFS stakeholders.
  • To provide troubleshooting expertise to outsourced team.

  • To manage relationships with key stakeholders.
  • To review, agree and interpret the accounting requirements for the accounting issues / major transactions impacting the accounts. Providing detailed guidance to other Finance staff across the GFS EMEA combined organisation, the UK SET Areas Finance Teams and the Commercial Marketing Companies to ensure correct accounting treatment. This will include the accounting for complex transactions such as licensing/royalty deals, acquisitions, some tax and pension calculations, etc.
  • To identify and aggressively promote opportunities to improve and standardise processes in the team and Finance in general. Improvements in controls and efficiency are continually being sought through Process or System enhancements.
  • To review the work of the outsourced R2R team, including compliance with controls and to work effectively within the wider team to ensure consistency across the processes managed by the team.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a qualified Accountant, preferably ACA, ACCA or CIMA. Excellent and current technical skills and knowledge are absolutely essential from practice or industry. Microsoft office skills are prerequisite.
  • Be a QBE with extensive experience of Record to Report processes and systems who is able to demonstrate the appropriate leadership capabilities may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
  • Experience of managing a busy Financial reporting team according to IFRS, UK or Local European GAAP according to strict deadlines.
  • Experience of reporting for Group consolidations in a large group or shared service centre using a major ERP system and a consolidation toolkit such as Hyperion.
  • Experience in Supply management
  • Experience of managing a wide and diverse customer base.
  • Excellent leadership skills particularly around; Working Collaboratively, Acting Decisively, Driving Performance and Passion for Customers.
