Job Description

Sales Executive - Education Membership Association

Reporting to the Sales Manager the sales executive will play an important part in communicating the priority of sales being key to the organisation's success. They will be part of a team working to deliver a robust sales strategy.

The Sales executive will sell products and services sales to non member schools in England including membership and CPD provision.

Under the direction of the Sales Manager, the Sales Executive will manage a portfolio of sales leads with the aim of closing those leads in membership and product sales to achieve their Sales and Revenue targets. All communications with customers will be recorded on CRM.

The role is office based with travel to customers as necessary.


  • Hit monthly, quarterly and annual individual sales revenue targets (by product and overall)
  • Build good relationships with established clients and prospective new clients.
  • Turn new client leads into sales.
  • Regular reporting of sales figures and analysis to the Sales manager
  • Contributing to the delivery of the sales strategy and monitoring outcomes.
  • Gather market intelligence and use it to contribute to new and existing product development
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high quality fulfilment of all sales

Selling includes:

  • Prospecting - researching new leads; identifying and contacting new decision makers
  • Qualifying leads - following up on leads generated by marketing or other activities
  • Identifying needs - questioning, listening and confirming understanding of prospect needs.
  • Pitching - proposing relevant solutions to match needs and budgets of prospect, demonstrating and presenting products
  • Negotiation - reaching agreement on packages and prices within established parameters
  • Closing - confirming sales in writing and initiating fulfilment process

Person Specification


  • Relevant face to face experience gained in any commercial area involving contact with customers or the general public.
  • Proven track records of consistently delivering and / or over achieving sales targets
  • Good general experience and understanding of sales techniques
  • Experience of compiling and analysing sales figures
  • Fast learner and passion for sales
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach
  • Competence and experience in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and, preferably, Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  • Positivity, energy, personality, tenacity, ability to focus and a will to win.


  • Experience of successfully selling membership and/or CPD/training products to schools
  • Knowledge and awareness of current English school landscape.
  • Professional social media skills - using Linked In and Twitter, in particular - for professional purposes.
