Sales Manager - Vehicle Supplier - London

Main Functions

  • To progressively promote directives and policies implemented from strategic or senior management level
  • To continuously maintain high levels of appropriate conduct and professionalism when interacting with and managing employees
  • To supervise the sales team and sales activity to achieve maximum performance and profitability in line with company values and directives


  • Responsible for the performance of all sales activities within assigned area
  • Responsible for actioning the directives set by the Training and Compliance Departments
  • Attend weekly meetings to discuss departmental issues and contribute to the Company Strategy
  • Promote, implement and manage company policies and procedures ensuring employee compliance
  • Liaise with Managers on matters such as Recruitment, Disciplinary/Employee issues, Employee development (i.e. Performance / Probationary reviews), Return to Work interviews etc.
  • Act as controller and proactively manage the process of issuing and receiving keys from customers, including but not limited to, ensuring the sales team qualifies customers accurately at the initial stage, and valid / true reasons for not buying are recorded on customer record forms.
  • Supervise and monitor sales presentations, interacting professionally with customers when required in order to assist in the purchase of the car and additional products
  • Active live monitoring of the sales team to ensure adherence to scripts and the Sales Manual
  • Provide on-the-job training and coaching to Senior Sales Supervisors, Sales Supervisors, Sales Advisors and Customer Advisors
  • Review and manage employee performance setting SMART objectives of employees within PT folders
  • Monitor customer trends regarding stock requirements and expectations and report as required
  • Cover for Sales Managers as and when required, including but not limited to, the management of staff coverage (Rotas, holidays and sickness).
  • Management of assigned Job Tracks, CSI, deal errors, Fuse and ADEN / Enquiries
  • Manage, liaise and interact with the Part Exchange department and Business Managers
  • Management and House Keeping of Sales Areas (display and office), including but not limited to, display and location of vehicles, managing price changes, Microphone checks etc.
  • Any other duties as required

The Successful Applicant

Experience in Vehicle Sales and Sales Management is Essential

  • Proven leadership and ability to drive sales teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer literate, including the use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in people and performance management
  • Proven track record in sales
  • Professional appearance and presentation of self
  • Ability to perform well in a high pressure sales environment

You must be willing and able to exercise authority as you will be managing a sales team of up to 40 people. This role will involve getting the best out of your team and taking part in disciplinaries where necessary.

What's on Offer

A Basic Salary of £35,000

OTE of £63,000
