Oxford based retailer currently with sales of over £80m and with a headcount of circa 500

Job Description

The Sales & Marketing Director will be responsible for the following:-

  • Strategic planning and implementation of overall company strategy, including branding, advertising and PR.
  • Sales and profitability growth from the retail estate of 30 shops and 30+ Connect (temporary) sites
  • Sales and profitability growth from my client's Corporate, Professional and Institutional Sales channel
  • Strategic planning and implementation of sales strategy covering customer retention and development
  • Planning and managing sales and marketing resources according to agreed budgets / forecasts
  • To contribute to formulation of policy and strategy as a UK board member
  • Manage relevant reporting of management and financial information for the sales and marketing function
  • Direct reports: Head of Retail, Head of Publisher Liaison, Head of Corporate Professional and Institutional Sales, Marketing Manager
  • Recruit, manage, train and motivate direct reporting staff according to company procedures, policy and employment law
  • Working with the Digital Director and Head of Learning to ensure consistency of marketing strategy across online and offline channels
  • Developing and delivering central marketing campaigns across the estate
  • Customer Communications and building loyalty programmes across all channels

The Successful Applicant

The Sales & Marketing Director will come with the following existing skills and experiences:-

  • Commerciality; A proven track record of delivering new business sales initiatives and sales growth from concept to launch to achievement

  • Tenacity; A never say die attitude and robustness in breaking down barriers to success
  • Project Management; the ability to plan and deliver business critical initiatives
  • Personal presence; able to present at conferences and events
  • Demonstrable Business and Commercial acumen
  • Sales & Marketing experience in a multi-channel retail or service environment
  • A sound knowledge of the UK Higher Education Sector
  • Customer loyalty programmes experience
  • Financial skills including P&L ownership
  • Planning and project management
