Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for translating security controls into easily understood language while talking authoritatively about physical and personnel security threats, risks and controls. The role also involves bringing together and coordinating a collaborative internal security communications plan, involving our Internal Communications Team, the Information Security Division and other stakeholders.

The role is about raising awareness so will involve copy-writing, communications planning, event management and extensive collaboration and stakeholder management. As an ambassador for physical and personnel security, you'll need to be a highly effective verbal communicator as well.

The Security Education & Awareness Manager is a stand-alone role within the team, so you'll also need to support training efforts and be comfortable engaging with and persuading experts and generalists on specialist subjects.

Our wider communications effort is about more than just telling people things: we need to listen as well and you'll be the Department's eyes and ears. We will need you to consider and deliver a range of communications options, such as surveys, focus groups, interviews, drop-in sessions, training modules and speaking at events and meetings. We will need you to do this and more to make sure that we can hear and understand views to help Security tailor our work and understand the effectiveness of our communications.

This is a chance to apply your experience to challenge and change behaviour, to translate specialist approaches into language that generalists can easily absorb.
