Leading Independent Finance Chartered Accountants based in Oxford looking for a Semi-Senior, Accounts.

Job Description

Overview of Finance Role:

Our dedicated accounts team employs a proactive approach when it comes to preparing accounts. We explain exactly what financial figures mean for a business and have specialist practice in a number of sectors, including farming, retail and technology. This individual will be part qualified and working towards full ACCA qualification.

In this role of Semi-Senior, Accounts - their main focus will be Accounts. They will be drafted onto Audits as and when required but they will spend the vast majority of their time in Accounts. Role and Responsibilities Assignment Supervisor responsibilities

May act as Assignment Supervisor on smaller jobs, in accordance with procedures Accountancy

Preparation of accounts for more complex partnership arrangements.

Drafting company accounts in line with Companies Act requirements (where audit exemption applies).

"Audit" of accounts for sole traders/partnerships where accounts have already been prepared by the client.

Preparation of periodic management accounts for clients. Taxation

Preparation of Schedule DI/DII income tax computations which would include the calculation of loss relief, where appropriate. Also dealing with commencement and cessation rules.

Drafting corporation tax computations (using C T model). Possible secondment to tax department to assist in preparation/verification of year end payroll returns (P35, P14's etc), income tax returns and checking tax assessments. Audit (Smaller Audits)

Accounts preparation and audit using Caseware tailored Audit Pack for Limited Companies.

Drafting of accounts in line with Companies Act requirements (including preparation abbreviated accounts). Audit (As assistant on larger audits)

Verifying debtors balances to subsequent receipts and/or results of

Checking purchase ledger balances to supplier statements and reconciling accordingly.

Verifying Hire Purchase balances.

Verifying PAYE and VAT creditors using VAT and PAYE checklists.

Analytical review summaries.

Reviewing bank letter reports.

Agreeing company statutory records to microfiche of records held at Companies House.

Attendance at stock takes.

Ledger testing.

Sales/Purchase transactions testing.

Planning, completion and fieldwork

The Successful Applicant

Semi-Senior, Accounts Candidates should have year-end accounts preparation practice gained in a UK practice. Finance qualifications - AAT or ACCA studiers considered. Someone who wants to join a fantastic firm in Oxford
