Job Description

Our New Business team are currently recruiting for Business Development Managers for the South East region with a strong commercial mindset and proven success in generating revenue in excess of £750,000 per annum.

In return for your excellent relationship-building skills and ability to deliver results to target, you will benefit from an uncapped commission scheme, company car or allowance and the support structure you would expect from an international market leader of our size.

This role will involve a significant amount of travel to business prospects across the Northern part of the country in order to develop new business opportunities. Our associates typically spend 3-4 days per week in the field, meeting clients face to face to sell our value proposition.


  • To secure new business with an initial annual spend of £750,000+ across the Office Depot products & services portfolio
  • Exceed annual sales & margin targets
  • Be a able to suggest and lead specific marketing campaigns to support the prospect & network activity for new opportunities
  • Work closely with the relevant Sales Directors to identify target prospects
  • Develop and progress opportunity pipeline logging activity using SFDC
  • To develop and prepare customer specific presentations, deliver these to a high standard
  • Lead and take full accountability for tender opportunities as assigned, working closely with the Bids team to submit high quality commercially relevant, winning customer centric bids
  • Negotiate and co-ordinate the content and signing of customer legal contracts
  • To lead the implementation and initiate any sales and IMU development plans in the first 12 months of a new contract's term

The Successful Applicant

Skills & Experience Required:

  • A proven demonstrable track record of new business success in a similar role, ideally utilising cross-range selling to secure contracts with an annual spend of £750,000+
  • Excellent relationship and networking skills
  • The ability to build an initial rapport & understanding with prospect stakeholders in order to secure the initial appointment
  • A passion for delivering high results through a proven method of working
  • Sound decision making capability - accountability for the result
  • Strong commercial acumen combined with excellent negotiation skills,
  • The ability to articulate strong cost to serve understanding and the ability to create a winning commercial proposal at both customer and sign off process

The ability to thrive under pressure, balance and deliver multiple complex projects
