The client is looking for a Senior Buyer for one of the world's most exciting aviation projects in Oxfordshire.

Job Description

Senior Buyer Key responsibilities

Procurement

  • Responsible for defined categories of procurement
  • Own and manage procurement of goods and services
  • Deliver the scoping, tendering, selection and order placement processes



Customers:

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers and stakeholders to ensure the open and accurate exchange of information and a joint, pro-active approach
  • Provide a professional and customer-focused procurement and sub-contract management service
  • Ensure that operational contacts and processes are established between internal customers and suppliers and that these are working effectively
  • Provide consultancy to internal stakeholders on interpreting supplier agreements



Supplier Management:

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships to ensure the open and accurate exchange of information and a joint, pro-active approach
  • Provide the lead contractual interface between the client's Services and suppliers
  • Maximize performance and value through active and effective supply chain management
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, using SAP and other data sources
  • Coordinate, chair and document performance reviews as required. Where necessary, ensure that appropriate recovery plans are agreed and managed to closure



Sub-Contract Management and Governance:

  • Monitor and manage subcontract spend to maximize value
  • Provide active management of defined sub-contracts
  • Report as required, including designing and issuing reports to capture risks, issues and KPIs

The Successful Applicant

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Experience of managing sub-contracts within a services business
  • Experience of building and maintaining effective relationships with significant suppliers, internal and external customers
  • Experience in one of the following industries:
  • Engineering
  • Aerospace
  • Defence
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills and highly customer-focused
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Commitment and ability to meet deadlines
  • Evidence of the application of IT tools to significantly improve personal efficiency
  • Highly organised - able to document, handle, prioritise and deal with a high volume of projects and tasks



Desirable

  • Obtained CIPS Level 4
  • Experience of using SAP for purchase order processing and procurement reporting
  • Experience of procuring aviation services
  • Familiar with Microsoft SharePoint as a document management system



Must be security cleared.

The client is offering a salary between £32'000 and £38'000, includes a generous pension scheme.
