About Our Client

Our client are one of the UK's leading Build Asset Consultancies within the Property and Housing sector, they work in a variety of sectors but this role is focusing on a number of build projects within the Public Sector.

Job Description

The Senior Cost Consultant will be based in the North East England and they will be responsible for the assisting with the growth of the Cost & Commercial Management team as well as taking the lead on some large build projects within the Public Sector. They will be responsible for the following:

  • Advise on all matters relating to the QS, procurement and partnering
  • Ensuring the financial viability/business objectives/business strategy of the company
  • Prepare estimates and cost plans, advertise for and evaluate expressions of interest
  • Compile tender shortlists, prepare tender invitation documents including establishing full evaluation methodology
  • Manage the tender and tender evaluation process
  • Agree guaranteed maximum prices and target costs, progress valuations and interim payments including auditing performance data, calculation of incentive payments and validation of actual costs through the open book approach as appropriate
  • Complete final accounts
  • Obtain audit clearance and issue final certificates and final cost reports
  • Provide project and programme management
  • Carry out the duties of employer's Agent under design and Build contracts

The Successful Applicant

The ideal Senior Cost Consultant will be based in the North East England and have Cost Management experience and ideally worked on Public Sector Projects previously although it is not a necessity, we will look at Cost managers with Private Sector Buildings experience. They will also have the following:

  • Degree level qualified/ Relevant QS qualification
  • Chartered status is preferred
  • Either Cost Manager or Senior Cost Manager level
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering successful Cost Management projects
  • Full understanding of contemporary construction contract specifically JCT and NEC forms of contract
  • Excellent IT skills Advanced Microsoft Excel to include pivot tables; proficient in MS Word and MS Project
