About Our Client

Our client is an award winning construction and management consultancy in the real estate and property sector that is expanding rapidly and looking to add a Senior Quantity Surveyor to the West Yorkshire team who will help to continue to drive the business forward and have input into further recruitment into the team.

Job Description

The Senior Cost Manager will be based out of the office in the West Yorkshire region and they will work on a number of projects throughout the Yorkshire region along with supporting the Director in the development of the business. They will also be responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring the competitive, efficient and effective delivery of quantity surveying services to clients through single of multidisciplinary team working
  • Manage and supervise staff within quantity surveying team and external consultants
  • Prepare estimates and cost plans, compile tender shortlists, prepare tender invitation documents including establishing full evaluation methodology
  • Manage the tender and tender evaluation process, agree guaranteed maximum prices and target costs , progress valuations and interim payments including auditing performance data
  • Provide project and programme management and carry out the duties of Employer's agent under design and build contracts
  • To contribute to the operation and development of the business management system to ensure continuous improvement of quality assured services/products for clients
  • Ensure Value engineering and Quality management systems are followed.
  • To manage the Cost performance of external suppliers and to influence and challenge abnormal costs and methodologies to deliver best value.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal Senior Cost Manager will be based in West Yorkshire and be happy to travel around the Yorkshire region when needed. They will have previous Quantity Surveying experience and have client facing experience and be confident enough to support the director with the business development of the Yorkshire region. They will have experience ideally in a broad range of sectors. They will also have the following:

  • Degree level qualified/ Relevant QS qualification
  • Chartered status is preferred but not a necessity
  • Either Senior Quantity Surveyor level or Associate level
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering successful Cost Management projects
  • Full understanding of contemporary construction contract specifically JCT and NEC forms of contract
  • Client facing experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills Advanced Microsoft Excel to include pivot tables; proficient in MS Word and MS Project
