My client is a market leading retail organisation that has been established for over 150 years.

Job Description

As part of the HR Shared Services Centre the Senior ER Specialist will be the first point of contact for complex, high risk ER cases. You will be responsible for providing prompt and sound advice to senior managers in line with current employment law, across the whole group spectrum.

Reporting into the Lead ER Specialist you will:

  • Provide advice on complex ER cases that have been escalated by the ER Specialist team.
  • Provide expert advice on complex cases, potentially at dismissal stage, on disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance related cases.
  • Be the final escalation point for all appeals cases.
  • Utilise your expert knowledge to coach and guide managers group wide to ensure all decisions made comply with current legislation and business requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the HR policy and ER training design team.
  • Contribute towards the ER Strategy alongside the Lead ER Specialist.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Senior ER Specialist will:

  • Have an in depth and up to date understanding of employment legislation.
  • The ability to quickly develop an in depth understanding of the organisations terms and conditions, policies and procedures and union agreements.
  • Strive to gain a thorough understanding of each business area in your remit.
  • Ideally be CIPD qualified or equivalent.
  • Possess excellent knowledge of general ER processes and best practice.
  • Have a proven track record in managing complex and high risk ER cases.
  • Have the ability to coach, influence and challenge decisions at all levels.
  • Have fantastic verbal, written and communication skills.
  • Understand the importance of contributing to and working within a successful team.
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times.

Additional preferred but not essential skills:

  • Knowledge of and ability to use HR Technology or Case Management solutions
  • Experience of drafting and/or informing HR policy design and ER training

What's on Offer
