About Our Client

My client is a market leading operator of purpose built accommodation in the UK, providing modern, stylish and affordable accommodation to the growing population within the UK. Recently acquired by a by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), my client is well placed to proceed with ambitious growth plans as opportunities arise.

Job Description

The position of Senior Financial Controller is a newly created role following the recent acquisition by CPPIB. Reporting to the Finance Director the purpose of this role is to lead on all Group Financial Reporting matters and be the point of contact for the Board and Canadian Investors on all technical accounting issues and advise accordingly.The Senior Financial Controller will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead the conversion from UK GAAP to FRS 102
  • Implementation of Group reporting and consolidation software
  • Preparation of statutory accounts for all Group Companies and Group Consolidations in accordance with Financial Reporting Standards and Best Practice
  • Liaising with audit and tax advisers and reporting to the Audit Committee
  • Identify and provide value-add, ad-hoc reporting where appropriate to help drive business performance
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting records
  • Close dormant BVI entities
  • Prepare quarterly report to the banks
  • Support the preparation and review of the annual budget
  • Input into the monthly reporting pack package and assist with commentary to the Executive team / Board
  • Risk management- play a significant part in the identification, migration and management of key business risks
  • Ad hoc reporting as required

We are seeking an ambitious and motivated individual who is keen to meet the challenges of contributing to a dynamic, highly entrepreneurial environment. The Senior Financial Controller will possess strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills along with a versatile personality with good problem solving skills. Furthermore the ideal candidate will posses the following:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA)
  • Proven ability to lead on technical accounting issues
  • Strong statutory accounting and consolidation experience
  • In depth knowledge of UK GAAP and FRS102 conversion
  • Implementation of consolidation software an advantage
