Job Description

Markets * maintains a strong external network to bring broader perspectives and knowledge to the firm * bringing insights from a strong commercial focus on the marketplace, demonstrates an understanding of market dynamics that would impact upon the business and people strategy in their area, and uses this to inform thinking and decision making * demonstrates a deep understanding of the firm's business, vision, strategy, behaviours and values and uses this as a foundation in all that they do * works closely with Business Analyst and local leadership team to identify opportunities to increase efficiency, adjust leverage to drive profitability, consider need to increase / reduce resource levels etc * perform an oversight and governance role for region/area of responsibility ensuring senior stakeholders have necessary information to make informed business decisions * supports the leadership team with the resourcing process for Partner and Director appointments. Clients Translates and delivers the firm's vision and strategy into a clear people strategy for their region, prioritising actions, which drive overall performance through: * develops strong consultative relationships with business leaders and key stakeholders; brings insight and challenges to unlock thinking * anticipates future issues and plans and delivers pre-emptive solutions such as change management initiatives, people manager development, on-going development interventions * recommending solutions to inform both long term plans and day to day implementation of people plans * business planning - support leadership team in creating and monitoring progress against business plan from a people perspective * talent management - ensuring the senior leadership team have clear visibility of the region/area of responsibility talent pipeline and that development interventions are clearly aligned to business strategy, whilst delivering return on investment * talent development - partnering with the Talent & Development team to identify and understand the specific learning and development needs of the region/business unit * performance management - ensure a smooth annual performance cycle, undertaking talent reviews, supporting people managers in delivering inspiring performance conversations and setting stretch goals * performance management - liaising with the People & Change team to ensure that performance issues are identified early and that appropriate support is given to people managers * workforce planning - analyse current resource, talent levels and the development of business unit workforce plans. Identify future skill needs, talent and headcount requirements in order to inform a proactive resourcing strategy. Have oversight for region/area of responsibility * succession planning - ensure that talent and succession plans are in place for key roles and that action is taken to mitigate any identified succession gaps. Provide senior leadership team and people leader with quarterly updates * reward - partner with the Reward Centre of Expertise team to evaluate the effectiveness of existing reward strategies and develop new ones. Ensure specific reward packages help attract, engage and retain talent. Engage with key stakeholders, ensuring the principles of our reward and People * supports an environment that brings out the best thinking in the Business Partner team and inspires others * coaches and empowers a high performing team, focused on working collaboratively and delivering nationally agreed priorities consistently across the firm which drive overall firm and global business goals * contributes to building an environment of trust and positivity in the team Operations * ensures everything the Business Partner team does adds value and is focused on improving business performance and aligned to national strategic priorities, delivering a consistent Business Partner service across the firm * engages leaders to improve organisational performance through optimising our organisational structure and effectively overseeing any organisational redesign, working with People & Change Centre of Expertise as required * cascades information to the team as required, communicating in a timely fashion, with clarity and confidence * prioritises change activity ensuring the Business Partner team are given advance warning about any changes early so they can plan their work to deliver on time * partners with key stakeholders including Centres of Expertise to identify business improvement opportunities to support the delivery of the business priorities

The Successful Applicant

The role comprises: * working with business leaders and leadership team in the region/business stream as part of the senior management team. In this role, you would be expected to challenge and influence Partners and Directors * design, develop and influence the national people priorities * undertake an oversight and governance role for the implementation of both the local and national people in business stream and have oversight for area of responsibility focusing on strategic business planning, talent management, workforce planning, succession planning, engagement, performance and reward process * responsible for driving and implementing change programmes locally resulting in operational efficiencies * managing business stream talent pipeline and have oversight for region/area of responsibility * providing coaching and up skilling to develop people management capability * manages and develops their team * partnering with Centre of Expertise teams to shape and influence overall priorities and specific interventions. * lead and deliver national transformational projects as required * act as a change agent supporting people through change programmes * supporting the People Operations Leader in delivering the firm's strategic people priorities consistently across the firm
